Editing-Sepia

When it comes to altering pictures, one of my favorite alterations is sepia. There's just something.... nostalgic about it. It makes the image either appear old, or it gives it extra flair. Take a wedding picture for example. By making the image in sepia and maybe rounding the image with a dark rounding tool, for me it draws a smile, no matter what the couple looks like.

I also really enjoyed this image. With the sun casting the cross into shadow, and then adding sepia, it almost makes you want to cross yourself. If the picture were seen in color, it probably wouldn't invoke the same response. But altered, it seems more than what it is.

Composition of a Image

All of these images are native JPEG's that I pulled from my summer internship to Scotland. This is actually one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken. I love the colors, and how vibrant they turned out. I centered the picture around the dog, which is on the edge of Loch Lomond. I used a combination of the shore, mountains, and the sky to frame the dog and the loch.

This one is from St. Giles Cathedral. I used the darkness of the cathedral to frame the angel that sits near the naive. I wish that the angel had been more lighted, but the marble absorbed the flash from the camera. I feel like it turned out almost ghostly.

I laid on the ground to take this picture. The Ross Fountain is located in the Princes Street Gardens, and Edinburgh Castle is in the background of this image. I really enjoyed how the angle of this picture showed both, and captured the water from the fountain.

Facebook is a great way to not only find friends and family, but it also has those "wonderful" little ad's that pop up in the corners. I chose to use a couple of this for my first topic. The first one is certainly eye catching. Not exactly a site that I would like to visit, but it's certainly a male-oriented ad. Everything is centered around the woman in a semi-circular fashion. After catching your eye, your either drawn to the name of the site, or to the sign-up sheet to the right. The colors are good, and tie in well with her *cough* outfit. The white (and blue) space ties in well with the simple layout. It has a simple regular rhythm with the font of the ad radially symmetrical around the woman. I thought it was well laid out, though not very business savvy if it's a dating site that only pertains to men.
My second site was boring and irritating. It was larger than it needed to be, with everything laid out in two overly large columns with excessive white space and little else. With one look, you want to exit the site and bang your head on a wall in frustration.
